This weekend as soon as I got out of Subbing I hopped on the train into the city to meet my friend Ashley at the Hampton Jitney and escaped to Southampton. We headed out East to visit our friend Morgan. Once we got there we spent our time driving through the beach towns along Montauk Highway, and stopping to hike, explore, and eat along the way.
We started the day at a fun little burger place called LT Burger in Sag Harbor. They have fantastic milkshakes and some awesome decor! From the menu written on the subway tiles to the cheerful orange chairs, it was definitely a fun place for brunch.
We walked along the Harbor and all the docks were dusted with snow.
We made our way to The End, Montauk Point and hung out for a bit on the swing looking out at the ocean.
From Montauk Point we continued to Camp Hero State Park and explored the old Air Force Station. The views of the cliffs were incredible, especially with the snow clinging to the branches and the sand.
We explored this little cabin, it was full of graffiti and rust. It must had been vacant for over 30 years.
We headed down to the beach and the views were simply spectacular.
Heading back to the car and we left at the perfect time. The trip home took us right into the sunset.
On our way to East Hampton the trees were still covered in snow and the sun set beautiful behind it.
It was a great day with some great friends. We all needed a little time together to get out of our heads, out of the city, and out to celebrate our Lovely Morgan moving to California! It was fun because we got to practice her driving, catch up and relax. It was Ashley's first time out there and it was great to be able to show her around. It was refreshing to get out and have an adventure for the weekend between substituting.
"To me, accessorizing is the most fun part of an outfit. While I don't think you can't rely on accessories to make a dress that isn't working work, I do love jewelry and handbags more than anything."

As a substitute teacher in my hometown, I know many of the students, and most of the teachers. I have been in my old High School and Middle School, waving at teachers as they pass by in the halls. However, there is nothing like being a substitute in your old Elementary School.
Today I got up and ready for work, the only difference was that I walked my old familiar route up the hill, a whole five houses, to my Elementary School. Walking into this beautiful old building was like coming home. The day was full of hugs and catching up with familiar faces. I was with a fantastic 1st grade class all day. They looked at me like I was crazy when I told them that the teacher standing next to me was in fact My 1st Grade Teacher. "How old are you?", they asked us both. You can tell that they are thinking: pretty old. I feel so incredibly lucky that I am able to go home again, and that my Elementary School is such a wonderful place, for learning and lasting relationships.
In honor of this day spent back in Elementary School, please enjoy this picture of my brother and me on my first day of Fourth Grade, and my super fashionable pink slip-on sneakers.
I have been having fun writing lesson plans for Elementary Art students. In the past few weeks I have had the opportunity to teach the students something of my own volition.
We have spoken about complementary colors and how graphic designers use certain colors to sell products. After the students were able to design their own logos for everything from made-up sports teams to a personal logo. One of my favorite logos was for a sports team that a student made up called the "Dunking Whales". It was so funny it was a drawing of quite literally a whale dunking a basket ball. It was one of the most creative logos. Kids love to come up with funny situations, and this project gave them the chance to do so, and they really ran with it. All while using proper color schemes!
This past Thursday I spent the day planning an Op Art Lesson inspired by Bridget Riley, one of the founders of OP Art. I have yet to try it out but I am very excited to put the plan into action.
